Finale's Solution to Bill of Ladings
Why a Bill of Lading Is Important for Warehouse Inventory Management
Finale Inventory integrated the BOL into our system because it plays a crucial role in administrative tasks for managing inventory. A BOL plays three key roles that make it important for inventory management:
It acts as proof of title: The company or individual holding the BOL has title or ownership of the inventory contained in the shipment. For a BOL to be an effective proof of title, the information it contains must be accurate.
It acts as a receipt: Once the shipment gets to the intended recipient and someone signs for it, the BOL becomes a receipt, providing proof that the shipment made it to its destination without any issues. When the recipient signs the BOL, any responsibility for the goods is transferred away from the carrier.
It acts as a contract of carriage: The BOL provides evidence that the shipper and carrier have entered into an agreement and that there is a purchase agreement between the shipper and recipient.
Electronic Bill of Lading: Create a Bill of Lading Online
A Bill of Lading (BOL) is a key document in wholesale logistics, serving as a contract between shipper and carrier. It details shipment specifics—type, quantity, and destination—ensuring accountability, tracking, and proof of delivery for streamlined operations. For many businesses, using an electronic bill of lading offers added convenience and efficiency.
Finale Inventory simplifies your shipping process by automatically generating a Bill of Lading (BOL) as soon as a shipment is created. This eliminates the hassle of manually typing or filling out templates to create a bill of lading online. With Finale, product details like name, quantity, weight, and more are instantly populated into the BOL, saving time and reducing errors. This automation ensures accurate documentation while letting you focus on moving your goods efficiently.
Hazardous Material Bill of Lading
When a company ships a product, particularly hazardous materials, it must ensure the shipment is delivered safely and that the recipient acknowledges receipt. Products like explosives, fireworks, chemicals, and cleaning products require special handling and documentation to comply with safety regulations. Shippers, carriers, and retailers rely on Hazardous Material Bills of Lading (BOLs) to ensure these products are transported securely and arrive intact.

Automated Straight Bill of Lading Form
Finale Inventory can generate a Straight Bill of Lading (BOL) form. A Straight BOL, often used for shipments where goods are being sent to a specific consignee and cannot be transferred to another party, is fully supported by Finale's automated BOL feature. The system populates all necessary fields directly from your shipment data, ensuring accuracy and saving time. This makes it easy for wholesalers and distributors to meet specific shipping requirements without manual effort.
How to Create a Bill of Lading: 3 Easy Steps to Print
1) Access the Shipping Section: Navigate to the Sales tab and select a specific order. Bill of Lading (BOL) is created from the shipments
2) Go to the Shipment Tab: Switch to the Shipment tab to view the available shipments. Select the shipment you want to create the BOL for.
3) Print the Bill of Lading: From the shipment, go to the Action menu and select Print Bill of Lading. You’ll be prompted to input special instructions (e.g., “leave on dock”), which will appear on the BOL. Now you can hand off the BOL to your trucker to start the shipment.
